The best place to live in Lakeland FL is around Lake Hollingsworth. That is my favorite place. Where you will prefer to live will be based on your wants and needs. North of Lakeland is rather rural but still close to the Lakeland Square Mall and Interstate-4.
South of downtown is where most of the lakes, the historic district and most of the beautiful homes are. You may not see them because of the gated entrances. The two most famous golfing communities are also in South Lakeland.
