You should live in South Lakeland if it is within your preferred budget. By south I do mean south of the downtown area. Northern Lakeland if good for people who want a little more land and a more rural setting. The Lakeland Square Mall is also north of I-4.

South Lakeland FL is a little more expensive and the homes and communities as a general rule are nicer. Beautiful golfing communities such as Grasslands and Eaglebrooke are in the southern part of the city.
