The best place to live in Lakeland FL is around Lake Hollingsworth. That is my favorite place. Where you will prefer to live will be based on your wants and needs. North of Lakeland is rather rural but still close to the Lakeland Square Mall and Interstate-4.
Lakeland is growing so fast because it is in Central FL. It doesn't hurt that it is affordable, within 35 miles of Tampa and within an hour of Orlando FL and Walt Disney World. I would live here even if it was not, but I also know the area very well.
The closest airport to Lakeland FL is Lakeland Linder International Airport. It is located west of Downtown Lakeland. Many are not aware of it as it has few flights currently. It was just remodeled and is expanding its service. Tampa International is about one hour from this city.
Move to Lakeland FL because it is safer from hurricanes but still close to the coast. Move to Lakeland because the beach is one hour away. Move to Lakeland because Bush Gardens, Walt Disney World, Universal Resort, Legoland and Seaworld are all within a one hour drive.
No, it doesn't get cold in Lakeland Florida. It does however get pretty cool. The coldest month is January similar to most states. The average temps here in Fahrenheit are an average high of 71 degrees and an average low of 50 degrees.
The hottest month in Lakeland Florida is July. The average temperature in July is 29 Degrees Celsius or 84 degrees Fahrenheit. July is also the wettest month and within hurricane season. Thankfully Lakeland is 1 hour away from the beach and typically has weaker storms.
You fly into Lakeland Linder International Airport for Lakeland FL. That is the preferred but most of the time we fly in and out of Tampa. Many of my friends use Lakeland Linder but it has never worked out for us. Tampa is 45-55 minutes away.
No Lakeland is not considered South FL. Lakeland is considered to be in Central Florida although it is not hard to see why that is confusing. Most Floridians consider anything south of Lake Okeechobee to be found in South FL. Namely Martin County FL southward.
The closest city to Lakeland FL is Tampa FL. That is if you mean the closest large city. Plant City, Bartow, Auburndale and Winter Haven FL are all very close to or adjacent to Lakeland. Lakeland is probably the best city all things considered.
